Transformative Learning:

Leveraging Mixpanel for Enhanced User Engagement and Understanding

We know the power of design - it's not just our passion; it's our game-changing advantage.

Mixpanel is a data analysis platform that allows digital companies to track and understand user behavior in their web or mobile applications. It provides detailed data on visitor behavior and potential obstacles in the conversion process, enabling companies to make informed decisions to improve user experience and increase the effectiveness of their product or service. For example, Uber works with Mixpanel to track user behavior in its app, trip frequency, usage patterns, and the effectiveness of its promotional campaigns. Netflix employs it to deeply understand interactions on its streaming platform, enabling it to personalize navigation to provide better user experiences and maintain user satisfaction. And Supreme, analyzes the performance of its marketing campaigns, sales strategies, product interaction, and understanding of the customer purchase cycle.

The Problem

Different stakeholders need to understand the company, all its services, user personas, and the depth of its platform and functionalities, which becomes a highly complex training. One-on-one teaching consumes too many resources: subject matter experts, time, and space, with the complexity of operating with different schedules worldwide. Some efforts the company had developed were fixed presentations or videos made by platform experts recording themselves. However, the knowledge acquired by users at the end of each training session was below what was expected because the materials failed to hold their attention for long and convey knowledge correctly. Recorders sometimes omitted information as they were recorded live without a script. On the other hand, Mixpanel's diversification regarding users makes it impossible to personalize with a focus on the needs of each one. The result was generic training that addressed all needs without a defined direction, which proved to be insufficient and irrelevant to the target audience.

The Solution

Different exciting and highly effective learning experiences were created to keep each user motivated, through vibrant graphics, captivating animations, and clear and stimulating narrations. Each video transports to a learning environment that sparks interest and inspires to discover more. A human and dynamic learning experience was offered to improve clarity, retention, and viewer engagement. This allowed demonstrations, practical examples, and attractive communication of platform features, providing clarity on its use. The message style conveyed through these tools allowed users to understand complex concepts and functions efficiently by making the content more engaging and easy to understand, thereby improving knowledge retention by stimulating various senses simultaneously. To achieve effective learning, accessible anytime, anywhere, and allowing users to progress at their own pace, different types of training videos were created to cover the various needs of each content:

Live Presenter

Videos

(01)

They facilitated human connection with the audience and made the content more memorable and meaningful for viewers, adding credibility and trust to the topics discussed. Graphics, animations, and supers reinforced important concepts, effectively maintaining user attention.

2D Animations

(02)

These allowed a step-by-step view through case studies and dynamic animated examples that promoted active learning and knowledge transfer to practical situations. In a few minutes, they allowed the visualization of the entire process from a certain perspective and the involvement of different actors, from developers to end-users.

Motion Graphics Animation

(03)

This style was used to create teasers inviting users to participate in the developed courses. These animated invitations worked better than static ones, effectively conveying the details of each training in less than 45 seconds. Different users received these animations via email as invitations to the different trainings. This style was also used in tutorials for using their platform, depending on the type of persona (product owner, marketing, developers, or sales force).

Slide Show Video

(04)

This type of video combines static or moving images with voice-over, as well as transitions, graphics, animations, and visual effects, to create a dynamic video that provides a large amount of information visually. It sparks interest in knowledge, leading the user to delve into their learning process and achieving better retention of acquired knowledge.

This diverse approach helped users to navigate Mixpanel, driving greater user engagement and satisfaction.
